Situated in the Eastern part of Rwanda, Akagera national park sits on an area of 2500 sq km and it is found on the boarder of Rwanda and Tanzania. The park was named after Akagera River which flows on the boarder with Tanzania.

Akagera national park is the only Savannah park in Rwanda making it the only place for wildlife viewing experience in Rwanda. Currently, the park revives a high number of tourists who come specifically to look at the amazing beauty of the park and the wild animals. Wildlife in Akagera National Park

Akagera National park harbors the largest number of wild animals in Rwanda and these include; Lions, elephants, giraffes, oribis, buffaloes, bushbacks, leopards, antelopes, duikers, water-buck, zebras, impalas and more. The park has got some primates like the common vervet monkeys, baboons, bush babies and blue monkeys.

How to Access Akagera national park

Akagera national park can be accessed by either road or air. By road the park can be accessed by driving from Kigali the capital city of Rwanfa through Rwamagana town to Akagera. This drive takes about 2 hours.
By air one can board a flight with Akagera Aviation and fly directly to the park for wildlife viewing.
